Venezuelan VP, FM to attend Celac-European Union summit in Chile

Venezuela's Vice-President Nicolás Maduro and newly appointed Foreign Minister Elías Jaua will be attending the presidential summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) and the European Union to the held next January 26-27 in Chile. 

"President (of Venezuela Hugo) Chávez continues recovering and Nicolás (Maduro) is the vice-president. He is performing the duties of president and he has informed that he would attend," the summit that will be held in Santiago next January 26-27, Chilean Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno said to Radio Cooperativa, AFP cited.

The Chilean diplomat added that the Venezuelan foreign minister would also be attending the event.

Forty-five heads of state and presidents of government will attend the meeting. This will be the seventh LAC-EU summit, yet it is the first one held following the creation of the Celac in 2012.
