The Venezuelan government does not know of any Venezuelans among the 37 foreigners killed during a raid intended to rescue a gas plant in Algeria, as the Algerian authorities have not forwarded any official report thus far.

Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal notified that 37 nationals from eight countries died during the raid after a four-day seizure of the facilities that ended in bloodshed last Saturday.

"We are monitoring the situation and thus far we have been not apprised of any Venezuelan victims in the tragedy in Algeria," a source of the Venezuelan Foreign Office told daily newspaper El Universal.

The Venezuelan government "strenuously condemns the terrorist attacks perpetrated by extremist groups in the gas facilities," state the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release on Monday.

Living with HIV/AIDS (II)

At first she agreed that I use her real name, that she had no problems with that at all. After all, living with HIV had driven her to help others – as a workshop facilitator giving talks and conducting seminars, or as a volunteer for local AIDS Service Organizations like Acción Solidaria (Solidary Action) and Mujeres Unidas por la Salud (Women United for Health, or Musa), a support group network for HIV-positive women. But when we were well into the interview, the realization that she might lose her private health insurance coverage made her change her mind.
