After Congress Speaker Diosdado Cabello accused opposition Primero Justicia party of corruption, opposition deputies Richard Mardo and Gustavo Marcano gave a press conference to explain how the donations the party received were spent.

Mardo said the accusations made on Tuesday at the National Assembly against his party are "one of the most horrific chapters (...) because the leading character, who led the debate, has never given an explanation to the country." Reference was made to Cabello.

Mardo claimed that former opposition deputy William Ojeda, who is now a government supporter, following instructions of Cabello, tried to buy him off in order to harm opposition leaders Julio Borges and Henrique Capriles.

"They could not buy me; they could not break my legs. I stood firm because I have a clear conscience," he said.

He said all the contributions they received from private companies were used to help the poor.
